1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SA Puppy Watch & Breeders, including the Microchip & Lost Pet Registry and the Pet Tracker service, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must stop using the website and its services immediately.

2. Purpose of the Website

This website exists to:

  • Educate the public on puppy scams in South Africa.
  • Provide breeder awareness and educational resources.
  • List paid and vetted breeder profiles.
  • Offer a platform for users to report suspected puppy scams.
  • Run a Microchip & Lost Pet Registry.
  • Sell and operate the SA Puppy Watch Pet Tracker, a GPS collar with a monthly tracking service.

3. General Disclaimer

  • All information on this website is provided in good faith and for general information purposes only.
  • We do not offer legal advice or act as a legal authority for consumer protection in South Africa.
  • Users are responsible for verifying any breeder, offer, or transaction they engage in.

4. Listings Disclaimer

  • Breeder listings are either free (limited) or paid (featured).
  • Listings do not guarantee the quality, health, or legal compliance of puppies or breeders.
  • Subject to section 11, SA Puppy Watch & Breeders is not liable for losses or damages resulting from breeder or buyer actions.

5. Breeder Vetting Process (Disclaimer)

Paid breeder listings may undergo a manual vetting process which includes:

  • KUSA (Kennel Union of Southern Africa) membership verification.
  • Vet health certificate check (if provided).
  • Website, social media, or past complaint review (if available).

Important: We do not perform physical site inspections or certify breeder facilities. Vetting is based solely on the documents and information provided by the breeder.

6. Scam Reports & User Submissions

  • Scam reports submitted via the website will be reviewed before publishing.
  • We reserve the right to withhold or redact parts of any submission to comply with South African laws, including POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act).
  • Submitting false, defamatory, or malicious content is strictly prohibited and may lead to legal action.

7. Microchip & Lost Pet Registry

  • The registry is a database run by SA Puppy Watch & Breeders. It is not an official or government register, and it does not replace any registration with the chip manufacturer or another database.
  • You may only register a microchip, or report a dog lost or stolen, if the dog is yours or you are authorised to act for the owner. You must keep your details accurate and up to date.
  • Only the information described in our Privacy Policy is shown in public search results.
  • Messages sent through the Contact Owner form must be lawful and respectful. Harassment or misuse is prohibited.
  • We may remove or correct any record that is false, disputed, misleading or abused.
  • We do not guarantee that a registered or reported dog will be identified, found or returned.

8. Pet Tracker

8.1 The product and the service. The Pet Tracker consists of a GPS collar tracker and a monthly tracking service that includes SIM data, our tracking platform, the app or web login, and support. The collar works only together with the service.

8.2 Ordering and payment. The price of the collar and the monthly fee are shown on our Pet Tracker page. Your first payment covers the collar and the first month. After that the monthly fee is due each month, in advance, by EFT or PayShap using the payment reference we give you. We activate your tracker once your first payment is received.

8.3 Late payment and suspension. If a monthly payment is not received by its due date, we may send you a reminder. If it is still unpaid after [3] days, we may suspend your tracker. It is reactivated once payment is received. We may terminate the service if an account stays unpaid for [30] days.

8.4 Cancellation. You may cancel the monthly service at any time with [notice period] by emailing us. The fee for the current month is not refundable. When the service ends, your tracker is switched off and the SIM, which remains part of the service, is deactivated. [Confirm SIM ownership and any minimum term.]

8.5 Delivery. We aim to deliver within 30 days, but delivery times are estimates.

8.6 Warranty and faults. The collar carries a 1 month warranty against manufacturing faults. If it is faulty we will repair or replace it. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse, accidents, water ingress beyond its stated rating, or normal battery wear. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, including any cooling-off and warranty rights that apply to you, are not limited by these terms.

8.7 Limits of the service. The tracker depends on GPS signal and on mobile network coverage that we do not control. Location accuracy, battery life, update speed and alert delivery vary with coverage, terrain, weather, settings and the condition of the collar. Where there is no signal, the app shows the last known position. Battery figures we publish are indicative. The tracker helps you find a pet but does not guarantee that a pet will be found. It does not replace supervision, secure fencing or a microchip.

8.8 Acceptable use. The collar is for tracking your own pet. You may not attach it to a person, use it to follow or monitor anyone without their consent, or use the service for anything unlawful. We may suspend or terminate the service if it is misused.

8.9 Your account. You are responsible for keeping your login details safe and for all activity on your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

8.10 Your data. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information, including location data from your collar. Tracker location data is visible only to you and our administrators and is never published in the registry or on this website.

9. Payment Terms (For Breeders)

  • Paid listings are non-refundable unless otherwise stated.
  • Listing duration, pricing, and benefits are specified on the Apply to List page.
  • SA Puppy Watch & Breeders reserves the right to remove a listing at any time due to complaints or misconduct.

10. Content Ownership

  • All educational content, images, and logos are owned by SA Puppy Watch & Breeders or used under license.
  • Reproduction or redistribution without permission is prohibited.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, SA Puppy Watch & Breeders, its owners, contributors, and affiliates are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from the use of this website or its services, or from reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for gross negligence or for your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update or revise these terms at any time. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. For Pet Tracker customers, we will email you about material changes before they take effect.
